This is the most versatile method for correcting complex or severe deformities. The best results are with grafts of living tissue, rather than with dacron or other synthetics. We have found temporalis fascia to be the best material, in our hands. This thin but tough membrane is a reliable and effective graft, with a long and successful track record in a variety of reconstructive operations.

Risks and Results
Impotence from surgery occurs in 5 to 10% of patients. Age, diabetes, smoking, blood pressure medicines, and downward bend contribute to this risk. In most cases, medications will overcome the problem. Permanent penile sensory alteration happens less than 5% of the time. Failure to adequetely correct the deformity is a third risk of approximately the same magnitude. In properly selected candidates, overall satisfaction with the outcome of surgery is in the 85 to 90% range.
